Wreck leads to death of Rattan man

PUSHMATAHA COUNTY –– A Rattan, Okla., man passed away Friday after a vehicle collision with a semi, approximately eight miles north of Rattan. According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, John Ingersoll, 81, was southbound on Cloudy Road when he struck the rearend of a semi driven by Roy Bates, 43 of Antlers, Okla., who was also traveling southbound.

Rattan Rams in State Baseball Playoffs Thursday at Edmond

RATTAN — If you’re going to play the Rattan Rams in baseball, it’s a well-known fact around most of Oklahoma that “you’d better pack a lunch.” The Rams recently capped the Regional Championship with an eight-game winning streak that landed them in the final eight of the Oklahoma ClassA Playoffs. They will open the Class A Tournament Thursday at 11 a.m.

“We played Friday in Preston against Eufaula. We lost the first game 4-3 after leading 3-0 going into the bottom of the 7th. Second game we lost 11-4. We should have won that one as well but made two errors in the 6th that cost us that one. After the first game the Eufaula coach asked me: “how did y’all only win 3 games? You are a better team than we were expecting!”
