Celebration of life services for Captain United States Air Force Retired, Oliver E. Brown, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 at Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen, Texas. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to service.

Captain Brown passed away Oct. 26, 2023 in Copperas Cove, Texas. He was born May 7, 1937 in Hugo.

Services are under the direction of Chisolm Family Funeral Home, compliments of Rogan Funeral Home.

Emilie Ann Gasak was born on June 15, 1937 in Hillsboro, Texas, the daughter of Chester Odell Winsett and Eddie Pearl (White) Winsett. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Shastid and sister, Linda Winsett.

Oklahoma Tribal Nations partner together to hold mental health summit

Last week, Oklahoma Tribal Nations came together for a twoday 988 Mental Health Lifeline Summit planned and coordinated by the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes in partnership with additional 988 Mental Health Lifeline grantees (Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Comanche Nation, Muscogee Creek Nation, Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Osage Nation, and Southern Plains Tribal Health Board) across Oklahoma. The event brought together Tribal leaders, Oklahoma 988 Tribal grantees, community advocates and mental health experts from across the country, including officials from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The billionaire founder of Home Depot and the nonpartisan Job Creators Network recently announced his support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race. Bernie Marcus, 94, wrote in a RealClearPolitics opinion column that he supports Trump because “he is the best person to take on and dismantle the administrative state that is strangling America.” “We cannot let the America we see today be what we leave to our children and grandchildren,” Marcus wrote in the Thursday column.
