VFW Club members, along with school organizations and local volunteers, paid their respects to late veterans by placing American flags on their graves at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. After a year spent working hard to raise funds, 35 recent graduates of the Hugo High School Class of 2024 were able to enjoy the benefits of that work on a cruise to Mexico last week. These students have been fundraising since June 2023 by working the rodeo concession stand, having taco sales, hibachi lunches, Indian taco sales, 50-50 chances, a fun in the sun day with bounce houses and a few more events.
The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) announced the application period for the annual Cattleman of the Year is open until June 1. The Cattleman of the Year is the highest honor OCA bestows upon one of its own members.
The Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association (OCA) has made an official request to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (ODAFF) to register KAPUT Feral Hog Bait for use in Oklahoma. The OCA request letter says, “Feral swine cause millions of dollars of damage to Oklahoma property through their destructive behaviors destroying range, pasture and hay lands.
The Local Food for Schools Program has been extended until Oct. 31, 2024. The program has successfully increased the opportunity for select Oklahoma school districts to purchase local foods for school meal programs.
OKLAHOMA CITY — The destructive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is present in McCurtain, Choctaw and Carter Counties in southern Oklahoma as confirmed by USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
