The annual Juneteenth Celebration, “Do it for the Culture,” was held Saturday in Hugo. Hundreds participated in and enjoyed the events, such as the parade, bounce houses, games and cash prizes and fireworks.

 

HUGO –– Hugo Police responded to a call regarding solicitation of a sexual act to a minor on May 31. According to official reports, the victim was offered a ride home by her boyfriend’s stepfather, Denyell Murphy, when he began soliciting sexual acts. Reports state the victim then told her mother, who called the police. Murphy, 48, was located at Sunhaven and placed under arrest for a full extradition warrant out of Arkansas. He was booked into Choctaw County Jail on complaints of soliciting sex to a minor.

HUGO –– The Kiamichi Tech Board of Education has appointed Rebecca Ludlow as the new Campus Director for the Hugo and Antlers campuses, marking a significant milestone in her career as an educator. With this new role, Ludlow will oversee all aspects of campus operations, academic programs, and community engagement initiatives.
