Long-term care residents honored during Residents’ Rights Month each October

Across the country, residents of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities along with family members, Ombudsman program representatives, citizen advocates, facility staff, and others will honor the individual rights of long-term care residents by celebrating Residents’ Rights Month. Residents’ Rights Month is an annual event held in October by the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (Consumer Voice) to celebrate and focus on awareness of dignity, respect, and the value of long-term care residents.

Sen. Lankford says correcting government deficit spending will take decades

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) joined Senator James Lankford (R-Oklahoma) in cosponsoring bipartisan legislation titled the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act of 2023. This legislation would take government shutdowns off the table and force Congress to stay in town until the budgets are passed.

Clayton resident sentenced for sexually abusing a child

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Kevin Stuart Pollard III, age 23, of Clayton, Okla., was sentenced to 57 months in prison for one count of sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country. Pollard was also sentenced to 24 months in prison each for two counts of abusive Sexual Contact in Indian Country. All sentences were ordered to run concurrently.
