Therman Trapp, age 82, of Sawyer, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 15, 2021. Therman was born on Sept. 25, 1938 in Hugo, Okla., to William Henry and Velma Cowley Trapp. He had lived in this area all of his life

Therman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Henry Trapp, Marshall Trapp, Eugene Trapp, John A. Trapp, William Trapp and Herman Trapp; sisters: Wilma Stanfield Fondron, Dorothy Wilson and Mildred Martel.

Therman was saved at the young age of 16 years at a revival meeting at First Baptist Church in Fort Towson. He was a member of Sawyer Baptist Church. Therman and his twin brother, Herman, were the youngest of the siblings. Therman graduated from Fort Towson High School in 1957. After graduation, he worked in the oil field, grocery stores, and delivered propane for his brother’s gas company. In March of 1967, he purchased the gas company. Therman married Sharon Slaton on Aug. 16, 1968 in Valliant, Okla. They raised three children: Than, Shay and Loye.

Therman was owner and operator of Trapp Gas Company for 54 years. He loved his customers and enjoyed visiting with them.Therman loved being outside. He enjoyed working in his yard, mowing yards and checking on his cows. He especially enjoyed working with his son on the ranch. Family meant everything to Therman. He loved being with his children and watching his grandchildren play ball. He was the best husband, daddy and paw paw anyone could ask for. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Therman leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sharon, of 53 years; son, Than Trapp and wife; daughter, Shay Earthman and husband; and daughter Loye Babb and husband, all of Sawyer; three grandsons; three granddaughters, along with a host of family, friends and loved ones.

Due to the pandemic, a private service was held at Fort Towson Cemetery on Tuesday morning, Aug. 17, 2021. Freeland Nash officiated the service and interment followed at Fort Towson Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
