Funeral services for Katie Belle Boykin, of Noble, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 21, 2021 at Noble Assembly of God. Katie passed away Dec. 17, 2021, at the age of 94.

Katie Belle Boykin was born Feb. 1, 1927, the fourth of five children born to Jodie and Ethel Waugh in Soper, Okla. She grew up in the Soper area and accepted Jesus as her Lord at the age of 12.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Tinker Air Force Base for the duration of World War II, awaiting the return of her best friend from the battlefield of the South Pacific. When he returned, she and Raymond Boykin were married on June 23, 1946. They bought a home in the Soper area and planned to live near family and friends, but their home burned in 1950 so they moved to Oklahoma City. In 1953 Raymond was called into the ministry. Even though Katie felt unworthy for such a high calling she learned to love the position and assisted her husband by teaching Sunday School beginners through adults for his entire ministry. At one point they returned to Soper for Raymond to recover from his wounds received on the battlefield in Okinawa. In 1960 their home was destroyed by a tornado. After rebuilding, the Lord led them back into the ministry.

Katie was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her husband and four children. This was her highest priority. After her children were out of the home she worked at Walmart and then DHS. After retirement they moved to Noble to be near their children. The Oklahoma Assemblies of God asked them to establish a church in Noble. After the church was built, they retired again but remained in Noble.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; infant daughter, Janice Carole; sister, Mildren Kendrix; brothers: Robert and Jodie Waugh.

She is survived by two sons: Don and wife, Kathy, Phillip and wife, Shirley; daughters: Sharon and husband, Clark and Phyllis and husband, Al; six grandchildren: Brent Boykin, Amanda Butler, Holly Long, Clint Rayburn, Allissun Carrington-Smith, Aspen Corrado and 10 greatgrandchildren.
