Funeral services for Jack H. Tollett, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at Rufe Baptist Church in Rufe, Okla.

Jack Howard Tollett, after a full life with his wife Charlene of 62 years, passed away on Friday evening, Dec. 18, 2020, at the age of 86. Jack was born Oct. 3, 1934 to Harry Tollett and Hannah (Foster) Tollett of Rufe. Jack served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956 before marrying Charlene Adams on Jan. 24, 1958. Jack and Charlene made their home in Hugo, where he also established his successful small business, Jack Tollett Construction. Over the years, he shared his knowledge and skills with all three sons and his two grandsons as they worked beside him in his business. He retired in 2010 to his farm where his family still gathers. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; all four of his siblings: Joy Mae Fuller, O’Neal Tollett, Sue Paschal and Wayne Tollett, and his beloved daughter, Tonya Ashford.

Jack, a skilled builder, having raised many homes from their foundation, did his best work in raising his five children. He is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Howard Tollett with wife, Candy Tollett; daughter, Annette Nowell with husband, Billy Nowell; son, Bobby Tollett, and son, Alan Tollett with wife, Melissa Tollett. He will always be remembered as the calm grandfather to Amy Ashford, Torre (Tollett) Taylor, Lacey Nowell-Burroughs, Tambra (Nowell) Dunn, Heath Tollett, Emily (Nowell) Hernandez, Jessi Tollett, Colton Tollett and Allie Tollett. Jack was greatgrandfather to nine: Cody Taylor, Evan Tollett, Jacey Taylor, Grey Burroughs, Finnigan Burroughs, Georgianna Dunn, Theodore Dunn, Louisa Dunn and Jack Dunn. He was a gentle giant.

We celebrate with gratitude his five-decade craftsmanship of many homes and businesses in southeastern Oklahoma. His work will outlive him for many lifetimes.

Interment followed the service at Rufe Cemetery with Bro. Shawn Robertson officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
