Funeral services for Albert “Buddy” Elmer McLemore, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 11, 2021 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hugo. Al passed away Sept. 8, 2021, at the age of 73.

Albert, “Buddy” Elmer McLemore was born on Nov. 10, 1947, in Fort Towson, Okla., to Edward and Marie (Cooper) McLemore. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Al graduated from Fort Towson High School, class of 1966. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded several medals, badges and ribbons, including the United States Air Force Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Combat Crew Badge, and the National Defense Service Medal. Al was a Physician Senior Assistant in the Air Force and returned home to continue his career in medicine. His passion was helping people and he showed great compassion and love for his patients for more than 40 years as a PA for Hugo Medical Clinic and Choctaw Memorial Hospital. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing and carpentry. He could do anything that he set his mind to and had a near photographic memory. Al was a good cowboy and loved working cows and riding horses. He believed in hard work and proved it daily. Al will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Al is survived by his wife, Leanna; daughter, Cassie Sallee and husband, Rick, stepson, Jim Crowder and wife, Tisha; stepdaughter, Misty Gennings and husband, Bobby; grandchildren: Hagen Sallee, Fynlee Sallee, Leah Crowder, Sage Crowder, Christopher Williams, Kyle Williams, Colton Williams, Jaden Williams; brothers: Charles McLemore of Fort Towson, Hugh McLemore and wife, Deb of Hugo, Alan McLemore and wife, Recessa of Sawyer, Wayne McLemore and wife, Carol of Chino Valley, Ariz., Terry McLemore and wife, Beth of Ringling, Okla.; sisters: Carolyn Elliott of Phoenix, Ariz., Elizabeth Reese and husband, Ron of Hugo, Lisa Hammock and spouse, James Hicks of Hugo, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the AL McLemore Scholarship Fund at Security First National Bank or First Bank in Hugo.

Interment with Military Honors was held at Fort Towson Cemetery with Bro. Zane Rowland and Dr. Ted Rowland officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
