Graveside services for Barbara Jo (Tate) Herman, of Soper, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Dec. 14, 2020 at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Soper. Barbara passed away Dec. 11, 2020 in Antlers, Okla., at the age of 71.

Barbara was born in York, Pa., on Oct. 4, 1949 to Harold and Lillie Mae (Alder) Tate. Later in life she moved to Soper, where she met Floyd “Kitten” Herman and on Jan. 24, 1969 they were married and made their home in Soper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kitten, and brother, Michael Tate. Barbara worked for several years at the

Barbara worked for several years at the Choctaw County Treasurer’s office. She then ran for the position and was elected as the County Treasurer. She served the community for a total of 32 years and retired in July 2000. Barbara loved people and she met many throughout her lifetime, but her greatest joy was her family and she loved spending her spare time with them. Barbara is survived by her sons:

Barbara is survived by her sons: Tracy Herman and wife, Sheila of Soper and Trey Herman of Soper; daughter, Vanessa Schuessler and husband, Karl of Soper; grandsons: Pacen Herman and Koopur Schuessler, along with many other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Larry Minchey officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
