Funeral services for Carolyn Yvonne Allensworth, of Valliant, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Rufe Baptist Church. Carolyn passed away Feb. 3, 2022, at the age of 74.

Carolyn Yvonne Allensworth was born on May 14, 1947 in Sobol, Okla., to Herman Joplin and Ruby (Madden) Joplin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Dewayne Allensworth; brother, Larry Joplin; sister, Sharolyn “Babe” Beene.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Dewayne Allensworth on May 28, 1965 in Spencerville, Okla., making their loving home in Rufe. Carolyn was a lifelong resident of the Rufe Community where she and her husband, Dewayne were members of Rufe Baptist Church. Carolyn and Dewayne donated to many charities such as the Cancer Society and the Children Hospital. They were both loving and giving people; always going out of their way to help anyone in need. Carolyn worked as a beautician for several years before starting her career in teaching. She then taught for more than 20 years, working at Glover and Swink Public School. In her free time, she loved to go dancing at the Dance Hall in Idabel and The Cabin in Broken Bow, taking care of her longhorn and angus cattle, shopping and cooking for her family. Carolyn also loved her flowers, her favorite being hibiscus. She hated when Dewayne would let the cattle into the yard to eat grass; they would always go straight to her flowers, never stopping to even touch the grass. Most of all, Carolyn loved her family. They were her biggest blessing and her greatest joy. Carolyn was a beautiful person; inside and out. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Dana Landreth and husband, Robin of Ringold; son, Chad Allensworth and wife, Annette of Stigler, Okla.; grandchildren: Chase Gambol, Cord Gambol, Chaylee McKelvey, Mitchell Landreth, Chauncey Williams, Jessie Allensworth Tucker, Drew Allensworth, Justin Hatcher, Traydan Rector, Kristlynn Hammonds, Waylon Wafford, Josie Wafford; 17 great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at the Allensworth Family Cemetery in Rufe with Bro. Johnny Corgill, Bro. Mark Bush and Leroy Beam officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
