Funeral services for Charles Heddlesten, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Charles passed away May 18, 2021, at the age of 88.

Charles Floyd Heddlesten was born July 4, 1932 in Little, Okla., the son of William Robert Heddlesten and Mary Magdelene (Huskins) Heddlesten and had lived in the Fort Towson area since 1971. He married Edna Mae Drinnon on Aug. 4,1959 in Paris, Texas. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Cooper.

Charles was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed fishing, ranching and liked to squirrel hunt. Charles was affiliated with the World Wide Church of God.

Charles is survived by his son, Nelson Heddlesten and wife, Rebecca of Fort Towson; daughter, Charlene Sullivan and husband, Robert of Fort Towson; two grandchildren: Chad Everett Tate and wife, Amanda of Alvarado, Texas, and Lance Aaron Tate of Burleson, Texas; three great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Tate, Evelyn Tate and Madelyn Tate; two brothers: Frank Heddlesten of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Welton Heddlesten of Hugo, Okla.; two sisters: Betty Cooper of Fort Towson and Yvonne Cooke of Fort Towson, along with many other relatives and friends.

Interment followed the service at Fort Towson Cemetery with Bro. Michael Cooper officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
