Donald Mahaffey

Memorial services for Donald Mahaffey, of Hugo, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 12, 2022 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. Donald passed away Feb. 6, 2022, at the age of 86.

Donald Mahaffey was born on June 6, 1935 in Sawyer, Okla., the son of Urbon and Eddie Ervin Mahaffey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Diane Shropshire Mahaffey; brothers: Henry, Urbon Jr., and Joe; sisters: Cathryn, Ruth, Edith, Neva Fay and Dorthy Jean.

Donald was an engineering graduate of Oklahoma State University and a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea and Japan. He married Diane Shropshire of Eufaula, Okla., on Feb. 23, 1963. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for many years, involved with a number of projects, including Hugo, Eufaula and Sardis Lakes. He loved to travel and was a people person who never met a stranger at his table.

Donald is survived by his son, Danny Mahaffey and wife, Stacie; grandson, Karson, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will greatly miss Don and his stories.

Bro. Doug McClure will officiate the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
