Donald Rowland

Donald Rowland, of Valliant, Okla., passed away Dec. 16, 2022, at the age of 83.

Donald Gayle Rowland was born on Jan. 13, 1939 in Altus, Okla., to Steve and Martella (Duncan) Rowland. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Billy Wayne Rowland; a grandson; sister, Myrna Kay Gardner.

Don was born and raised in Altus. He enlisted in the Navy and honorably served his country. After his return home, Don married Kay Kyker on Oct. 29, 1960 in Altus. They soon moved to Tyler, Texas, where he was a scuba diver and EMT for the fire department, and was a lieutenant for the Tyler, Texas, Fire Department. Don loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed collecting stamps. Above all, he loved his family and took care of Kay always. Don was an awesome husband, dad and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Don leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Kay Rowland of Valliant; daughter, Brenda Weemes and husband of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Dale Rowland of Huntsville, Ala.; along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.
