Dorothy Mae Southard

Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Southard, of Valliant, Okla., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Valliant. Dorothy passed away Aug. 30, 2021, at the age of 65.

Dorothy Mae Southard was born on April 21, 1956 in Buckhorn, Okla., to Marion “Mutt” and Ruby (McKee) Tyson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Larry Tyson and Lynn Tyson.

Dorothy was a graduate of Soper High School, Class of 1974 and married the love of her life, Jackie Southard on Nov. 21, 1974 in Soper, Okla. They made their home in Valliant and were members of the Assembly of God in Wright City, Okla. Dorothy enjoyed taking care of her home and gardening. Dorothy enjoyed mowing her yard and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed fishing, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her precious grandchildren. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of more than 46 years, Jackie; daughters: Jodie May and husband of Valliant, Jessica Roberts and husband of Valliant, Jennifer Phillips and husband of Monticello, Ark.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Dewayne Tyson of Buckhorn; sisters-in-law, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Valliant.

Interment will follow the service at Valliant Cemetery with Bro. David Kautt officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
