George “Shorty” Philpot

Graveside services for George “Shorty” Philpot, of Mead, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. June 8, 2022 at Restland Cemetery. George passed away June 6, 2022, at the age of 86.

George Allan Philpot was born on Dec. 19, 1935 in Boswell, Okla., to James Philpot and Isadora Camp Philpot. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Jimmy Philpot and an infant who passed at birth; brother, Charlie Philpot; sisters: Darlene Philpot and Mary Long.

Shorty was born and raised in the Boswell area until he left for the Army to serve his country. He had been a resident of Mead, Okla., since 2008. Shorty was a man of his word, if he said it, he meant it. He was a very avid hunter and fisherman. Shorty loved being around his family and friends and he especially loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Shorty is survived by his son, Greg Redwine and wife of Muskogee, Okla.; daughter, Traci Larue and husband of Arthur City, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Esker and husband of Mead, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Chad Austin officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
