Jimmie Thomas Gordon

Memoral services for Jimmie Thomas Gordon will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2020 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home with Lance Williams officiating. Jimmie Thomas Gordon, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2020 in Clarksville, Texas, after two years of declining health. Jimmie received care from his wife, daughter, and the gracious staff of Clarksville Nursing Center.

Jim served in both the Army National Guard and later in the Navy during the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge from the service, Jimmie married Florine Chumley on Sept. 16, 1967. They settled in Grant, Okla., to raise their only child, Jennifer Gordon. Jimmie had a passion for music. In his younger days was an avid dancer. He and his sister in-law, Jean often entertained the crowd by dancing the jitterbug to the rock-&-roll hits of the day. Many times Jimmie and Jean’s dancing would clear the floor while the crowd watched in appreciation. Jimmie was also a life-long outdoorsman. He loved his family and enjoyed providing for them through hunting and fishing. Nothing pleased him more than sharing his knowledge of the great outdoors with the younger generations. He was willing to teach anyone who wanted to learn the skills he’d honed since childhood.

Jimmie was survived by his wife, Florine Gordon; daughter, Jennifer Gordon, and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents: Adelaide “Jenny” Davidson and Jimmie D. Gordon; maternal grandparents: Laura and Clem White.

Family is practicing social distancing, and would like to ask everyone to wear a mask.
