Mary Helen Harmon, 84, of Rattan, Okla., met her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 21, 2021, surrounded by family at home. She was born on March 11, 1937 near Soper to Merland and Elsie (Tollett) Henson. She married Joel “Dobber” Harmon, the love of her life, on April 28, 1956, and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Mary graduated from Rattan High School in 1955. She was the secretary for the OSU Extension Office in Antlers until her retirement, and enjoyed being involved with the local 4-H programs. She then spent her time in her flower gardens, bird watching and making memories with her family.

Mary was known for her beautiful flower gardens. Travelers would often stop just to ask about her azalea bushes, which adorned the front of her home for years.

She had a passion for photography and captured countless family memories, as well as her flowers. She also loved to sew, read, work on crossword puzzles and could beat just about anyone at Wahoo.

She was the matriarch of a large family who loved her fiercely.

Mary is preceded in death by her grandparents: William Melvin Henson and wife, Martha Ann (Lambert) and Thomas Jefferson Tollett and wife, Mary Atteline (Dickerson); parents: Milas Merland and Mattie Elsie (Tollett) Henson; siblings: Wylie and Chester Henson, Pat Watterson, June Horton and Nina Cockrill.

She is survived by husband, Joel “Dobber” Harmon; sister, Bobbie Stapp of Idabel, Okla.; son, Tracey Harmon and wife, Kim of Alpine, Calif.; daughters: Pam Polk of Collinsville, Okla., Tammy Lawless of Rattan, Okla., and Lisa Kim “Kook” Tollett and husband, Monty of Rufe, Okla.; grandchildren: Tascha Bond and husband, Brian, Jason Carper and wife, Chasity, Chaz Polk and wife, Kelley all of Durant, Okla., Chance Lawless and wife, Kaci of Rattan, Hunter Polk and wife, Lillie of Mustang, Okla., Kassidy Harmon and fiance, Werner Willemse of Alpine, Calif., Aaron Noel and wife, Jenny of Sobol, Okla., Trenton Tollett and wife, Sonia, Marisol Shields and husband, Jamie of Rufe, and caregiver and special friend, Teresa Hobbs of Rattan; great-grandchildren: Darian Aplin and husband, Zack of Norman, Okla., Hailey and Gentry Bond, Ky, Cruz and Reese Carper, Addison, Aiden and Channing Polk all of Durant, Avery and Aandi Noel of Sobol, Sawyer and Finley Lawless of Rattan, Callie Gray of Kenefic, Okla., Ashton and Quade Polk of Mustang, Okla., and Erin Shields of Rufe.

Services for Mary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Rattan, with Shawn Robertson and Ronnie Miller officiating.

Pallbearers for Mary include: Jason Carper, Aaron Noel, Chance Lawless, Trenton Tollett, Chaz Polk, Hunter Polk and Brian Bond. Honorary pallbearers include: Monty Tollett, Mark Earthman, Tink Grimmet, Bert Collins, Bill Carper, Bill Arpealer and Don Carter.

Services are under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers.
