Funeral services for Mary Virginia Pierce were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at the Grant Full Gospel Church in Arthur City, Texas, with Pastor Dempsey Greer officiating and burial at Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Okla. Mary went to be with the Lord on Nov. 6, 2021 in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 89.

Mary Virginia Pierce was born Dec. 4, 1932 in Boswell, Okla., to Fredrick Oliver and Zula Mae (Hamon) Byas. She moved to Hugo in 1965 and lived in the Hugo and Boswell area most of her life. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church in Arthur City, Texas. Mary had worked at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory for 15 years, the Main Quick Mart for 16 years. Mary enjoyed sewing, cooking and her flowers of any kind you can imagine. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe Lon Pierce; son, Billy Joe Pierce; brother, Jerry Byas; sisters: Elizabeth Harris and Mamie Melton; grandson, Roy Glenn Morris and greatgrandsons: John Dean Blagg and Dally Blagg.

Mary is survived by daughters: Nancy Amend of Powderly, Texas, Loretta Hooper of Hugo, Okla., and Cindy Richardson of Denison, Texas; brother, Forrest Byas of Spring Town, Texas; nine grandchildren, numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were: Donnie Pierce, Loni Richardson, Rick McCall and Cody Gose.
