Funeral services for O.G. “Poppie” Chapman were held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel in Antlers, Okla.

O.G. “Poppie” Chapman was born on Nov. 6, 1952 in Antlers, Okla., to Oliver Goldsmith Chapman, Sr. and Violet Mae (Thompson) Chapman. He passed away at the age of 69 on July 13, 2022 at his home in Antlers.

O.G. proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service, he returned home and was self employed as a truck driver until his retirement. O.G. enjoyed spending his free time cooking, hunting, and fishing. Above all else, he loved being with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Oliver G. and Violet Mae Chapman; brothers: Otis Chapman, Dennis Chapman, and Chuck Chapman; sisters: Annice Alcorn and Sherri Deaton; grandchildren: Chris and Jessie; and great-granddaughter: Hazel.

O.G. is survived by his lifelong partner: Dorothy Cable of Antlers, Okla.; children: Violet Boren and husband Raymond of Antlers, DeLaura O’Haver and husband Don of New Braunfels, Texas, Willard Chapman and wife Tangi of McAlester, Okla., Alicia Chapman and husband James of McAlester, and Lanna Bradshaw and Nelson of Greenville, Texas; grandchildren: Erik Chapman, Chelsea Simmons, Nicole Hancock, Tristan Chapman, Kyle Carney, Lucas Chapman, Ethen Calder, Kierra Hare, Olivia Hare, Brittany Fennell, Anthony Chapman, Baylee Burns, Skilar Joslin, Marcus Heady, Douglas Heady, and Logan Heady; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and greatgrandchildren.

Officiating the services was Steve Deaton officiating. Interment followed at Darwin Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Will Chapman, Ethen Calder, Erik Chapman, Anthony Chapman, Justin Eden, Joey Eden, Ryan Butler, Homer Chapman, Otis Chapman, Irvin Hare, Marcus Heady, Douglas Heady, and Logan Heady.

Services were under the direction of Serenity Funeral Service of Antlers, Okla.
