Suzanne (Stamper) Berry lost her extended battle with cancer Sunday, May 8, 2022, surrounded by family in Jacksonville, Fla. She was 66.

Suzanne was a member of the Hugo High School Class of 1974 and was Salutatorian of her class and also a Majorette with the Hugo High School Band. She was awarded the band’s highest annual award, the John Phillip Sousa Award her senior year.

Suzanne graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Medical Technology in 1978 and was involved in a number of medical studies involving chromosome and cytogenetics research at Children’s Hospital in Tulsa after her graduation. While in Tulsa, Suzanne met Keith Berry, a dental student at Oral Roberts University, and they were married in August, 1986 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Hugo, Okla. Before leaving the military, the couple welcomed their first child, Rachel in October, 1993.

Following her husband’s 13-year service in the U.S. Army Dental Corps, the couple moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where Dr. Berry entered into his his endodontics private practice. Suzanne was active in a number of social and church programs in Myrtle Beach, and she was an avid tennis player and designer of art.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Marie Stamper of Hugo, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Keith Berry, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Rachel Lloyd and her husband, John of Charleston, S.C.; one sister, Dr. Cindy Wright, Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers and their wives: Steve and Karen Stamper, Clinton, Okla., Stan and Judy Stamper, Hugo., Okla.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
