Celebration of life for Winona Butcher-Taber was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022 at the Assembly of God Church in Hugo, Okla., with Pastor Keithen Brown officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Winona went to be with the Lord peacefully at her home on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022 in Hugo, at the age of 89.

Winona Butcher-Taber was born Dec. 16, 1932 to Porter and Dovie (Murray) Campbell, in Soper, Okla. She married Doyle Butcher on June 22, 1950 in Hugo and after his passing on April 7, 2000, she later married Vernon Taber on March 22, 2003. Winona had lived in this area for the past 21 years after moving here from Bethany, Okla. She was a homemaker and worked as a court clerk for the city of Bethany. Winona attended the Wesley Methodist Church and was a member of the Assembly of God Church, the Mothers InterSe, the Iris Garden Club, and was a volunteer at the Choctaw Memorial Hospital. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Winona was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Doyle Butcher in 2000; her second husband, Vernon Taber in 2012.

Winona is survived by her son, Marlin R. Butcher and wife, Nita of Lindsey, Okla.; her daughters: Donna Wilberger of Hugo and Darlene Cavender of Harrisburg, Ore.; brother, William Edward Campbell; sisters: Billie Joan Mitchell, Margie Rogers and E.Yvonne Scott; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; numerous friends and other family members.

Services were under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
