Richard La Verne Lester

Memorial service with Military Honors for Richard La Verne Lester, of Fort Towson, Okla., will be held at 2 p.m. June 23, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo. Richard passed away June 17, 2021, at the age of 58.

Richard La Verne Lester was born on Jan. 17, 1963 to Tilden and Marisa (Resa) Lester in Roseville, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He served in Camp Pendleton and his primary specialty was Rifleman. During his service he received the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge along with the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 1 star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Arabian Gulf, Meritoious Unit Commendation along with several other awards and commendations. Richard married his wife, Connie in Los Angeles, Calif., on December 26, 2007 and they moved to Fort Towson in 2011. He loved animals, especially his dogs. Richard was a loyal, caring and loving friend. He would try to help anyone in need and would give his friends the shirt off of his back. Richard will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Goodland Cemetery with Father Todd Nance officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
