Services for Lena Fern McGhee were held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo, Okla. Lena died July 14, 2021 in Hugo, Okla. She was 83.

Lena Fern McGhee was born on Dec. 25, 1937, in Mesa, Ariz., to Homer and Merle (Davis) Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald McGhee; sons: Marty McGhee and Carmen McGhee and brother, Henry Logan.

Fern loved to go to church and was a member of New Hope Church of God in Hugo. She loved to worship God and sing praises to Him. When Fern was younger, she loved fishing and spending time outdoors with her family. Her family was so important to her, and she loved cooking for them, especially chicken and dumplings. She was an incredibly talented quilter and enjoyed making beautiful quilts. Fern loved Thanksgiving and making sure everyone had their fill of her delicious chicken and dressing. She enjoyed going to garage sales and finding bargains. Fern’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her sons and her beloved granddaughters. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Fern is survived by her sisters: Betty Methvin, Joyce Higgins, and Wilma Miller of Hugo; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.

Pastor Mona Fulks presided at her services, assisted by Rev. Justin Byerly.

Burial followed in the Shoals Cemeter under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Hugo.
