Marilynn Marie Pebsworth

Graveside services for Marilynn Marie Pebsworth, of Boswell, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Oct. 5, 2021 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell.

Marilynn Marie McKee Pebsworth was born to parents Wilburn and June “Anna” McKee on Jan. 20, 1956, in Antlers, Okla. She passed from this life and received her heavenly reward on Oct. 2, 2021, at the age of 65. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and grandson, Zach Pebsworth.

Marilynn graduated from Atoka High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree from Murray State College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University, and a Master’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She was a passionate advocate for youth, education and public service.

Marilynn was a teacher in both vocation and calling. After several years of teaching middle school and high school students in Oklahoma public schools, she took a job at Howard McLeod Correctional Center teaching adult basic education. Marilynn saw potential in every person and loved helping her students see that potential in themselves. Soon after she began her work at McLeod, Marilynn was recognized as the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Teacher of the Year. She loved her work at McLeod and taught there until her retirement after many years of dedicated service.

Marilynn married James Pebsworth on May 22, 1987, in Centerpoint, Okla., and they made their home in Boswell. She was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation, the Red Hat Society and the Retired Teachers Association. Marilynn had a profound commitment to service and her community. She was a founding member of Believers in Boswell and supported her community in any way she could. She loved playing and watching sports, making crafts, watching game shows and westerns, and twostepping with her husband, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Marilynn leaves an enduring legacy of love and service to others, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marilynn is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Pebsworth; son, Wesley Pebsworth and wife, Kristin of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Marila Miller and husband, Monte of Hugo, Okla.; stepdaughter, Shawn Pebsworth of Boswell; step-son, Zane Pebsworth and wife, Angela of Boswell; grandchildren: Ryan, Montgomery, Meredith, Melanie, Britany, Dusty, Jesse and Shepard; greatgrandchildren: Kason, Jaxon, Braylon, Addison, Zoey, Kye, Zachary and Reagyn; sister, Carolynn Smith and husband, Graylan of Centerpoint, Okla.; brother, Dannie McKee and wife, Debbie of Galveston, Texas; and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Rick Austin officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
