A memorial service in remembrance of Joyce Ann Pharis, of Fort Towson, Okla., will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 27, 2021 at Sobol Baptist Church in Sobol, Okla. Joyce passed away Dec. 4, 2021, at the age of 79.

Joyce (Wyatt) Pharis was born on April 22, 1942, in Colorado City, Texas, to Theodore and Sarah (Jones) Klas. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Henry Klas and sister, Mary Anding.

Joyce enjoyed spending time outdoors, walking and working in her garden. She loved butterflies and feeding the hummingbirds that came to her porch. She was a talented seamstress and made many of her daughter’s dresses. Joyce also enjoyed cooking and crossword puzzles. She loved the Bible and spent many hours studying God’s Word. Joyce married Rex Pharis on July 18, 1986, at the First Baptist Church in Fort Towson. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper for First State Bank in Valliant and they were both members of the Sobol Baptist Church in Sobol. Joyce will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 35 years, Rex; daughter, Audra Lancaster and husband, Michael of Abbeville, Ala.; son, Darin Wyatt and wife, Niki of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren: Paige Lancaster, Jacee Beeland and husband, James, Layne Wyatt, Brad Day and wife, Tracy, Melanie Watts and husband, Michael and Stacey Calder; great-grandchildren: Marilyn Rae Beeland, Alexis Day, Hunter Day, Hayden Day, Mikey Watts, Briar Watts, Kaislee Watts, Tristen Calder and Harmonee Calder; great-grandson, Anthony Galvan; sister, Addie Howk of Merkel, Texas, along with a host of other family and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sobol Baptist Church Outreach program.

Arrangements are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
