Joyce Ann Fluellen went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2022. She was 76 years old. Joyce was born on Aug. 10, 1945 in Whittier, Calif., to Vernon and Margaret Alexander. She moved to Hugo, Okla., as a young child and lived here her entire life. She attended Hugo Schools and graduated from Hugo High School in 1963, which she would say was the best class to ever graduate from Hugo High School. She married the love of her life, Ralph Fluellen on June 22, 1963. They were married for 54 years and made their home in Hugo. Joyce was an enthusiastic community leader. She was involved in civic clubs, the Chamber of Commerce and most importantly the annual Hugo Homecoming where she volunteered for many years. Joyce worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and then moved on to Public Service Company for many years until her retirement. Joyce was an active member of Clayton Avenue Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was there to serve anytime the doors were open. She loved her church family.

Joyce loved to clean. No one ever walked into her house when it wasn’t immaculate. She loved Christmas and every year she would decorate every room in her home for the season. She often had an open house every year so everyone could come and enjoy it as much as she did.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Alexander and her mother, Margaret and stepfather, Ernest Maggard and her beloved husband, Ralph Fluellen.

She is survived by her son, Keith Fluellen and wife, Valerie of Omaha, Neb.; daughter, Kelli Wilson and husband, Pete of Broken Bow, Okla.; grandchildren: Taylor and Josh Fluellen, Mia, Presli and Tripp Wilson; sister-in-law, Marsha Popchoke; nieces and nephews: Michelle and Travis Wood, Leslie Popchoke, Nick and Bri Fluellen, Ian and Kim Maness and a host of friends and family.

Thank you to all the family and friends who have called and visited over the past few weeks. It has truly been a blessing to our family.

The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Clayton Avenue Church in Hugo. Celebration of life services for Joyce will follow at 2 p.m. at Clayton Avenue Baptist Church.
