She was born May 21, 1941 in Soper, Okla., the daughter of William Porter and Dovie Marie (Campbell). Yvonne spent the majority of her youth in the Hugo area. For a period of a few years during the early 1940s her family moved to California for her father to work in the agricultural industry. She attended elementary school at Goodland Indian Orphanage and graduated from Hugo High School in 1959. She worked at the Hugo Hospital while still in high school as a nurses aid, she then went to Mercy Nursing School where she became a Registered Nurse, graduating in 1961. She continued to work as an emergency room nurse at Mercy Hospital until she married and moved to Pawnee, Okla. In Pawnee she raised her two daughters and worked as an RN at Pawnee Municipal Hospital, also serving as the Assistant Director of Nursing for most of her time there. She continued her career at Stillwater Medical Center in the Intensive Care Unit until her retirement. Yvonne was very proud of her long nursing career, spending more than 35 years in the field. She was a very skilled nurse who took great pride in the care she provided her patients. For approximately the past 15 years she has split her time between Pawnee and Ennis, Texas, so she could be closer to her two daughters and their families.

Yvonne prided herself as a lifelong learner. She was an avid reader who loved to read about current events and also enjoyed reading other fiction and non-fiction books. She loved to do genealogy research and spent many hours in the library conducting her research. She also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and always made it a point to attend their activities when she could. Yvonne was very active right up until her passing and enjoyed taking walks around her neighborhood and visiting with her neighbors. Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents;
