Funeral services for Kobi Oakes Wood, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 at First Assembly of God in Hugo.

Kobi Ryan Oakes Wood was born Oct. 29, 1990 in Hugo, Okla., the daughter of Robert Oakes and Tammie (Spear) Oakes. She departed this life on October 19, 2022 in Hugo, at the age of 31. Kobi married Matthew Wood on Feb. 22, 2022 in Hugo. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Roger Dale “Scooty” Spear and Linda Sue Coffman; and her paternal grandparents, Sam and Cecelia Oakes.

Kobi was an old soul and one of a kind. She was a 2009 graduate of Hugo High School and lived in the Hugo area her entire life. She loved old music and old records, especially Janis Joplin. Kobi was the life of the party, and she was described by her sister as “the funniest person ever.” She was blunt and to the point, but you always knew where you stood with Kobi. She didn’t know the meaning of the word quit and persevered through everything life threw at her, including obtaining her Master’s Degree. Kobi loved NASCAR, and enjoyed snow skiing. She had a heart to help people and spent her time working in the field of psychology. Kobi was someone a friend could always talk to because she didn’t judge people. Most of all, Kobi loved her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Kobi is survived by her husband, Matthew Wood of Hugo; son, Karson James Cody of Hugo; parents, Robert and Tammie Oakes of Hugo; sister, Brittany Brown and Rusty Cooper of Paris, Texas; sisters-in-law: Alisha Anderson and husband, Shaun of Hugo, and Rebecca Wood of Hugo; maternal grandfather, Gary Dale Coffman of Garvin, Okla.; mother-in-law, Karen Wood of Hugo; nieces: Avery Anderson, Ja’Miya Johnson and Addison Cooper; nephews: Jayden Brown, Easton Brown, Caleb Allen and Jace Cooper; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Interment followed the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Shawn Robertson officiating, and assisted by Bear Johnson and the Rev. Keithen Brown, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
