Carlton Makerney

Graveside services for Carlton Makerney were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2022 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Okla., with Ronnie Miller officiating. Carlton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, at his home in Sawyer, Okla., at the age of 83.

Carlton Makerney was born Aug. 9, 1939, to Coke and Hattie Ruth (Pearson) in Oklahoma City. He had lived in this area most of his life and worked as a truck driver. Carlton served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed riding motor bikes and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Carlton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; son, Gary Makerney; brother, Coke Makerney; and nephews: Carlton and Jason Makerney.

Carlton is survived by his sons: Jack Makerney, James Makerney, Jerry Makerney, John Makerney, Glen Makerney, Scot Makerney and Shawn Makerney; sister, Patsy Durham; brothers: Steve Makerney and Joe Makerney; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. The family would like say a special thank you to Mrs. Lori Lynn Makerney for her special care.
