Funeral services for Edna Alyne (Hill) Curtis, of Mesquite, Texas, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Edna Alyne (Hill) Curtis was born March 31, 1923 in Durant, Okla., the daughter of James Lemuel Hill and Otelia Wilhelmina (Sholden) Hill. She departed this life on Nov. 2, 2022 in Mesquite, Texas, at the age of 99 years. Edna married Manuel Curtis in 1942 in Hugo, Okla. She was a 1941 graduate of Hugo High School, and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Manuel; two brothers: James Hill and Willard Hill; four sisters: Lexie Townsend, Beuna Brown, Gertrude Denton and an infant sister.

Edna loved her church; it was everything to her. She was very involved and served in many areas including being over the children’s department and serving as secretary and treasurer of the church. Edna organized many events, fundraisers and dinners. She helped raise the funds to build the fellowship hall at Wesley Methodist Church. Edna loved the Lord, loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Edna is survived by her daughter, Margaret “Margie” (Curtis) Harris and husband of Garland, Texas; son, Dale Alan Curtis of Navasota, Texas; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The Rev. Dr. Carol Txipama officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
