Funeral services for Howard Lynn Dicken, of were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 2020 at Mt. Olivet

Howard Lynn Dicken, 75, passed peacefully on Oct. 26, 2020 in Hugo. He was born May 11, 1945 in Paris, Texas, to James Rex and Alma Christine Dicken. He married Bettie Wilson in 1965 and worked for his father, Rex, for many years in various capacities, but mainly as a truck driver.

Howard settled his family in Hughes Springs, Texas, with four children and in the late 1970s and 80s, he traveled the United States hauling steel products for Lone Star Steel. After he and Bettie divorced in 1994, he met the love of his life, Allene Cody Wood from Hugo and they married on May 21, 1998 in Golden, Okla. Howard’s last professional driving job was with Rustin Concrete in Idabel, Okla., in 2007. After retirement, he and Allene built a home north of Hugo. Howard and Allene enjoyed doing everything together including hunting, fishing and trips to various parts of Oklahoma to hunt for treasure a metal detector.

Howard is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy and sister, Alma Jean. He was heard calling for them both as if they were at his bedside in the last days of his life. Howard was also preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, and Allene’s sons, whom Howard considered his own.

Howard is survived by wife, Allene; daughter, Theresa of Gilmer; sons: Danny of Longview, Texas, Timothy of Colleyville, Texas, Mitchell of Gilmer, Texas, and Preston of Hugo; brother, Mark of Paris, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.

Pastor Randy Mayfield officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
