Funeral services for Bill Medford, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2021 at Valliant Church of God.

William “Bill” Medford, 96, of Fort Towson, passed from this life on June 5, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born, May 9, 1925, in Ripley, Tenn., the son of, Walter Lee Medford and Susie Genevieve (Long) Medford.

Bill proudly served his country, as a rifleman and Corporal in the United States Army during WWII. He married Jimmie Halkum in Dallas, Texas. The couple raised two sons and three daughters. He was a member of the Valliant Church of God and Disabled Veterans. Bill was a professional carpenter and loved to make deals at the flea markets and garage sales. He loved spending time outdoors going fishing and camping.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Genevieve Medford; his wife, Jimmie Medford; a daughter, Sheila Brigman; two brothers, six sisters and a grandson, Ronnie “Little Ron” Brigman, JR.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory his sons: Sonny Medford and wife, Robin of Bartlett, Tenn., Leon Tims and wife, Phyllis of Valliant; daughters: Linda Bullock and husband, Bill of Munford, Tenn., and Beatrice Himes and husband, Johnny of Swink, Okla.; brothers: Charles Medford of Ripley, Tenn., and Gene Medford of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters: Ann Ozment and husband, Sam of Ripley, Tenn., and Evelyn Goforth of Ripley, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, along with many loved family and friends.

Interment followed the service at Fort Towson Cemetery with Bro. Leon Tims and Bro. Charles Medford officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
