Calvin was a lifelong resident of Choctaw County, and was one of the last elders of the Gay/Goodland Community. He married his sweetheart, Dorothy Cain in Ashdown, Ark., on Nov. 13, 1948. They enjoyed square dancing and traveling the United States together for 72 years before her death on June 10, 2020. Calvin loved raising cattle and was known as the cattle whisperer. Over the years, he taught his kids and grandkids how to drive on a tractor. Calvin was known in the county as the best housepainter for more than 50 years.
