Funeral services for Curtis Eugene Bailey, of Grant, will be held at 2 March 11, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo. Curtis passed away March 6, 2021, at the age of 66.

Curtis Eugene Bailey was born on May 20, 1954 in Casa Grande, Ariz., to Willard Bailey and Betty Lou (Freeman) Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Dennis Bailey and James Wesley Bailey, Sr. and his sister, Diann Bailey.

Curtis married Joyce Tavender in Coolidge, Ariz., on May 12, 1972. She was the love of his life for more than 48 years.

Curtis loved fishing , hunting and camping. He was not much of a pole fisher, but he loved trot line and yoyo fishing. He also liked to drive around and look for deer at the lake.

Curtis loved to work. He really did not see working as a job, he just enjoyed it. He worked for Brown’s Tires and Duggan’s Dairy in Casa Grande, Ariz., before he moved to Grant, Okla., where he spent 25 years working with his brother, Wes Bailey, for Grant Rural Water Dept. He loved every minute of it.

Overall, Curtis loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed making them laugh by joking and playing pranks on them, as well as his friends. He loved playing card and board games and was incredibly competitive. He was known as the “Candy Man” as he always carried candy around in his pocket for the kids. Everyone considered him their grandpa, friend or dad.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Timothy Bailey and wife, Sabrina of Coweta, Okla.; daughter, Tina Byerly and husband, Justin of Grant; grandchildren: Kristie Billy and husband, John, Kelsie Rabon and husband, Jeffrey, Trenton Bailey and Conner Bailey; great-grandchildren: Delilah and Abigail Billy; brothers: Darrell Bailey and wife, Betty of Antlers and William “Billy” Bailey of Oklahoma; sister, Mary Covington and husband, Charles of Hugo, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Interment will follow the service at Grant Cemetery with Bro. Charles Green and Bro. Anthony Lewis officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
