Funeral services for Dwight Francis, of Valliant, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Dwight passed away June 4, 2024, at the age of 79.

Dwight Francis was born on May 19, 1945, in Curtis Junction, Ark., the son of William Marvin Francis and Alice (Curtis) Francis. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha Jean (Anderson) Francis; and sister, Nola Belle Francis.

Dwight was born working; he was a selfmade man and was proud of the work he accomplished. When he was 9 years old, he started mowing lawns so he could buy his first car. Dwight’s true love was airplanes; he started flying at the age of 16 and later went on to learn how to build them. Dwight learned to fly every type of airplane he could and his family often joked about how he worked so hard at his jobs during his life to be able to fly. He married Martha Jean Anderson on Nov.

17, 1968 in Gurdon, Ark. During that time, he was also enlisted in the US Army Reserves. After his honorable discharge from the military, they moved to DeRidder, La., where Dwight was employed with Brown & Root Construction as a mechanic. A few months later, a job in Valliant, Okla., opened up with B & R and it was to build a paper mill known as Weyerhaeuser. Dwight would work there until he and his late wife, Martha, started their own business, F & F Automotive in 1971.

Dwight was a well-known and respected gentleman; always willing to help anyone he could. He had the mindset that there was nothing he couldn’t accomplish if he worked hard enough for it. Dwight will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
