Funeral services for Essie Jean Moore, of Boswell, Okla., were held at 5 p.m. April 17, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo. Essie passed away April 15, 2021, at the age of 71.

Essie Jean Moore was born on Sept. 1, 1949 in Boswell, Okla., to Claude “Pedro” and Cecilia Ann (Robbins) Pierce. She is preceded in death by her father, Pedro; brother, Edwin Pierce and sister, Jacqueline Martin.

Jean married Jerry Moore on Oct. 31, 1967 in Grant, Okla., and later graduated from Boswell High School, Class of 1968. She lived in the Boswell area for most of her life and worked as a seamstress at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory. Jean had most recently worked for 16 years as a teacher’s aide for the Boswell Public Schools. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Boswell and enjoyed reading, going on trips with her family, fishing and going to the casino. But her greatest enjoyment came from her grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her mother, Cecilia Ann Harbuck of Antlers, Okla.; husband, Jerry Moore of the home; son, Nathan Moore and wife, DeMichael of Boswell; daughter, Pam Shockley and husband, Lance of Bonham, Texas; brother, Randall Pierce of Boswell; sister, Robin Domingo of Brandenburg, Ky.; grandchildren: Savannah Armstrong, Stormy Shockley, Meredith Shockley, Katlynn Moore, Raelyn Moore and Dylynn Moore, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Chad Austin officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
