Glenda Sue Young

Graveside services for Glenda Sue Young, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Glenda passed away Nov. 26, 2021, at the age of 74.

Glenda Sue Young was born on Sept. 13, 1947, in Hugo, to James Lee and Mandy (Fox) Couch. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandsons; brother, Gatus Lee Couch and sister, Velma Myers.

Glenda was a lifelong resident of Hugo and that is where she raised her loving children. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. Glenda’s greatest joy was her family, she always loved the holidays where everyone was gathered so she could cook, bake and spend time with the people she loved. She also was not shy about her opinions and would always “shoot you straight.” Glenda also enjoyed spending time with her friends and loved to go out to eat, crochet and visit with her best friends, Charlotte and Donna. She was a beautiful person inside and out, always wanting to make a positive difference in the lives around her. Glenda was the spiritual backbone and the matriarch of her family and loved ones. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Glenda is survived by her son, Franklin “Frankie” Lee Young and wife of Apple, Okla.; daughters: Kimberly Annette Griggs and husband of Hugo, Amber Dawn Rice and husband of Soper, Okla., and Jo Ann Dodge of Wills Point, Texas; brother, Thomas Matthew Couch of Hugo; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Services were under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
