Hattie Marie Goree

Funeral services for Hattie Marie Goree were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Cofffey Funeral Home with Brent Shain officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, Texas.

Hattie Marie (Weathers) Goree passed away Sept. 3, 2021, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born Feb. 11, 1928 in Woodville, Okla., the daughter of William Weathers and Amanda (Gibbs) Weathers. Hattie attended and graduated school with the honor of Salutatorian of her class. Hattie married Cecil Goree in 1949. She moved to Hugo, Okla., in 1987 where she lived till 2017 then moved to Paris, Texas, where she lived the remainder of her life. Hattie was Christian by faith. She enjoyed working puzzle books, watching soap operas, crocheting blankets for family members. She cherished spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hattie was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Cecil; one son, Lynn Goree; a daughter-in-law; three sisters: Katherine Neese, Mary Thorton and Retha Horsley.

Survivors include her three children: Larry Goree of Boswell, Okla., Gloria La Fountian and husband of Minnesota, Bud Goree and wife of Gladewater, Texas; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ruby Johnson and husband, and Wilma Duesman.

Services were under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
