Funeral services for Hollis Don George, of Spencerville, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Spencerville Community Church. Hollis passed away April 15, 2021, at the age of 86.

Hollis Don George was born on Feb. 10, 1935 in Cooper, Texas, to Zeke and Lucy Leverda (Webb) George. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Don was a proud veteran of the United States Army and earned a parachutist badge while serving in Fort Bragg, N.C. He was a logger by trade and had also worked for many years building marinas. Don was a member of the Spencerville Community Church and had lived in the area since 1973. He married Betty Hudson on Sept. 29, 2006. Don enjoyed rocking in his chair and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved the mountains and spent as much time as possible in John’s Valley sitting around the campfire at his cabin. Don will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Don is survived by his wife, Betty; sons: Don Mack George and wife, Tracie of Hugo, Okla., Lewis George and wife, Donna of Spencerville and Jason Hudson and wife, Britni of Spencerville; daughters: Verda Lynnette Richey and husband, Melvin of Mead, Okla., and Nena Hudson and husband, Tony of Spencerville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Onita Faye McCarty of Loneoak, Texas, Bonnie Godinez of Ira, Texas, and Etha McAllister of Winona, Texas, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Spencerville Community Church with Bro. Kenny Cogburn and Tony Hudson officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
