Graveside services for Jean Brown Clark Mixon, of Allen, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. June 29, 2023 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell. Jean passed away June 26, 2023, at the age of 94.

Jean Brown Clark Mixon was born on Feb. 26, 1929 in Boswell, Okla., the daughter of Jim Clark, Sr. and Dolyn Brown Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim Clark and sister, Peggy Ann Clark Wilson.

Jean graduated from Boswell High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University (SOSU), receiving a Bachelor’s Degree. She taught elementary school at Traub Elementary School in Midwest City, Okla., and Jefferson Elementary in Las Vegas, Nev. Jean then moved to Boswell, Okla., and taught sixth grade for many years. During this period, she was awarded two Masters Degrees, one in education and one in counselling from SOSU. She then taught elementary school in Powderly, Texas, and was known for her enthusiastic and effective teaching style and for maintaining strict discipline in her classroom. Jean was a talented artist in many media, especially watercolor at which she excelled and enjoyed helping her students explore developing their artistic techniques. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed arranging flowers and interior decorating. Jean is survived by her son, Jeran Binning of San Diego, Calif.; grandsons: Clark Binning and Evan Binning of Highland Village, Texas; great-granddaughters: Quinn and Harper Binning of Highland Village, Texas; sister-in-law, Frances Clark of Boswell; nieces: Toni Hughes of Boswell and Jean Ann Bacon of Durant, Okla., along with many other family members, friends and loved ones.

The family requests donations be made to the Boswell Cemetery Association, PO Box 121 Boswell, OK 74727.

Jean will rest next to her first husband, Harlowe M. Binning, Jr. in Restland Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
