Celebration of life service for Jean Browning were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Hugo, Okla., with Bro. Danny Mills officiating. Burial followed at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo. Jean went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 86.

Jean Marie Browning was born Feb. 24, 1935 to John and Edith (Wells) Wade in Los Angeles, Calif. She was a longtime resident of Hugo and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo. Jean worked and retired from the United States Postal Service. She also worked for the Hugo Chamber of Commerce and the Kiamichi Railroad excursion train through the Chamber of Commerce. Jean loved flowers and was a member of the Hugo Garden Club. She was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau organization and did volunteer work at the Choctaw Memorial Hospital.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Paul Newman and Calvin Owens; one daughter, Claudia Karnoski.

Jean is survived by her husband, James Browning of the home; son, Jeff Spivey and wife, Ximena of Newhall, Calif.; grandsons: Cole Spivey of Newhall, Calif., Phillip Browning and wife, Vickie of Bend, Ore., Freddie Karnoski, Luke Karnoski and Travis Karnoski, all of Gardena, Calif.; granddaughter, Natalie Spivey of Newhall, Calif.
