Jimmy Dale Darity transitioned to the next world peacefully on March 5, 2022. Jimmy was born on a spring day April 17, 1943, at home north of Swink, Okla., to Hershel and Ruth Darity. He was preceded by his younger brother, Lynn Darity and his lovely wife, Juanell, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Cate Curtis. Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Dian Fleck on Sept. 9, 1962, and had two wonderful children. A son, David Dale Darity of McAlester, Okla., and a daughter, Dana Darity Taylor of Caney, Kan. He had four beautiful grandchildren: Abby Taylor of Parsons, Kan., Lilly Dale Darity of McAlester, Okla., Caleb Curtis of Paris, Texas, and a dear niece, Darla Tillman of Swink, Okla.

Jimmy had a Master’s Degree from SOSU and taught school for four years. He was president of Security First National Bank and owned/operated the Super Stop in Sawyer, Okla., before retiring.

Jimmy was a generous benefactor for many charitable and civil rights causes, most notably his grandchildren, whom he doted on. His curiosity and fierce thirst for knowledge and education has trickled down to his children and grandchildren, continuing the ripple effect that Jimmy always believed would make the world a better place.

Per Jimmy’s request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital or the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home.
