Funeral services for John Barry, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 28, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home. John passed away Aug. 23, 2021, at the age of 72.

John Edward Barry was born on May 27, 1949 in Fall Rivers, Mass., to John Brett and Rose May Barry. He was preceded in death by his parents.

John was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was very proud to have served in Vietnam. He received several badges and medals during his service, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star and the Vietnam Campaign with device.

John worked for many years as a U.S. Postal Service mail carrier. He was the former commander of the Pryor DAV and was also a member of the American Legion and VFW. John lived most of his life in the Pryor, Okla., area moving to Hugo more than four years ago. He was a member of the Shoals Baptist Church. John enjoyed fishing and loved taking care of his girls. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his wife, Teresa “Terry” Barry; sons: John Phillip Barry and wife of Weeki Wachee, Fla., Larry Barry and wife of Salina, Okla.; daughter, Tara Jean Barry of Hugo; 11 grandchildren; brother, Larry Allen and wife of Sapulpa, Okla.; sisters: Ellen Williams of Claremore, Okla., and Rose Ann Trundle and husband of Pryor, Okla., along with a host of other family friends and loved ones.

Bro. Ken Livingston officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
