Funeral services for Joyce Lee Capers, of Richmond, Texas, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2024 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Valliant. Joyce Lee Capers met her Heavenly Father in Paris, Texas, on June 17, 2024, at the age of 81. She was born in Fort Towson, Okla., on Oct. 31, 1942. She met the love of her life, David Capers, and they were married on July 18, 1964. They moved to Irving, Texas, where they found jobs and settled into their marriage. Joyce worked for several major corporations in Dallas, Texas, including Braum’s Ice Cream Stores as a traveling district manager.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Tidmore; mother, Mary Eliza Barrett Tidmore; sister, Freddie Tidmore Miller; both sets of grandparents and a nephew.

Joyce’s favorite thing was to spend time with her family. Once Angela and David grew up, she would happily drive miles to be there to cheer on her grandchildren in their sports events or she would be there to watch them in school plays. She cherished her time with her friends, finding joy and comfort in their company. She was a member of the Church of God from a very early age in her life, where she found solace in worship. Joyce will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joyce leaves behind her daughter, Angela O’Brien and son-in-lawn. She also leaves behind her son, David Capers II and his wife. Additionally, she is survived by her grandchildren, as well as her great grandchildren; her brother, Roger and wife; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; along with many other family and friends.

Interment followed the service at Fort Towson Cemetery, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
