Outdoor funeral services for Kelsey Richard Barnes, of Boswell, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 30, 2021 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell. Kelsey passed away Aug. 25, 2021, at the age of 90.

Kelsey Richard Barnes was born on March 12, 1931 to Hosa Richard and Myrtle Barnes in Celina, Texas, and had lived in the Boswell area most of his life. He married Billie Mock on Feb. 28, 1958 in Hugo, Okla. Kelsey was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Mock Barnes; his parents; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Barnes; brothers: Lee Barnes, Clarence “Moon” Barnes, James Barnes, Nelve Barnes, Dee Barnes, J.C. Barnes and sisters: Alice “Pete” Kincaid and Nova Webb.

Kelsey was a carpenter by trade and spent most of his days doing carpentry work and painting for the surrounding areas. He enjoyed playing music. Kelsey especially enjoyed playing his fiddle, mandolin and guitar at church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his beloved family. Kelsey loved helping people and telling stories about his many adventures in life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Kelsey is survived by his son, Richard Barnes of Boswell; daughter, Vicki Scott and husband, Paul of Boswell, Carolyn Moody of Boswell; grandchildren: Kelbie Taylor, John Paul Scott, Katie Moore and husband, Michael, Cody Barnes, Kelsey Barnes, Cole Barnes and Zach Barnes; great-grandchildren: Carter Bohanan, Maggie Bohanan, Josie Robison, Kandace Westmoreland, Kennedi Westmoreland, Terry Westmoreland, Bentlee Barnes and Christopher Littlejohn; special nieces: Patti Vrla and Traci LaRue, along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Bro. Roger Barnes officiated the service, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
