Funeral services for LeeRoy Heady, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel. LeeRoy passed away Oct. 21, 2022 at his home, at the age of 77.

LeeRoy Heady was born Aug. 24, 1945 in Antlers, Okla., the son of Wesley Heady and Dorthy (Hale) Heady and had lived in Hugo for the past 14 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters: Ruby Mims and Donna Montoya, along with two brothers: Gary Heady and Ronnie Heady. He was a retired fireman, being employed with Eunice, N.M., Fire Dept. for more than 30 years and was a life long member of New Mexico Firefighters Association. He was also a retired oil field worker.

LeeRoy enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, watching his chickens, and liked to race dirt track cars (they had to be yellow). He was a tinker and would work on everything, always letting people know that he was right! LeeRoy never met a stranger and loved to visit with anyone who would listen. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. LeeRoy married Charlotte Lawrence on Jan. 18, 2011 in Hugo. She survives him. Other survivors include three sons: Frankie Heady, Harland Heady and Charles Heady; five daughters: Beverly Bonomo, Gena Griffin, Carolyn Smith, Connie Adams and Carol Floyd; brothers: Richard Heady and Terry Heady; sisters: Pauline Motes, Joyce Workman and Helen Heady; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends.

Interment followed the service at Goodland Cemetery with RV Colbert officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
