Funeral services for Lonnie Joe Fulks, of Hugo, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 22, 2022 at New Hope Church of God in Hugo.

Lonnie Joe Fulks was born on July 18, 1948 in Blytheville, Ark., the son of John Franklin Fulks and Ida (Burns) Fulks. He was welcomed into his forever home to be with the Lord on Feb. 17, 2022, at the age of 73. He was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Fulks; sisters: Irene Burpo and Maxine Anderson; two grandchildren.

Lonnie was raised in Ponca City, Okla. He met the love of his life, Mona (Green) Fulks in Texas at a church camp, and they knew instantly they were made for each other. They were married on Aug. 23, 1977 in Guymon, Okla., after only dating for three weeks and started their beautiful life together. Lonnie was a man of many talents and was known for being “a jack of all trades.” He was an avid outdoorsman; loving to hunt and fish. His family described him as being the ultimate noodler. Lonnie was a self-taught musician and he played in church all of his life. He also was a Golden Glove boxer, loving to tell his family stories about his matches over the years. With all of these different talents he worked several different jobs throughout his life; he drove cross country as a truck driver, was a street minister in Oklahoma City, a master tree trimmer and also was a self-contracted welder. Lonnie was a character; he was a master storyteller, loved to play jokes on people and scare them. He just loved to see their reactions. Overall, Lonnie was a God fearing, hardworking, kindhearted, loving man and was willing to help anyone in need. The most important thing to him was his family, they were his biggest blessing and greatest joy. Lonnie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of

Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mona Fulks; sons: Larry Joe Fulks and wife of Yukon, Okla., and Jeffery Fulks and wife of Guthrie, Okla.; daughter, Tammy Fulks-McPherson of Ponca City, Okla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.

Interment followed the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with the Rev. Rocky Pettyjohn officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy Burpo. Services were under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
