Lorene May Springs

A private memorial service for Lorene May Springs, of Hugo, Okla., was held under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home. Lorene passed away Oct. 27, 2021, at the age of 97.

Lorene May Springs was born on July 12, 1924 in Wright City, Okla., to Jesse and Mary (Goff) Elkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus; her parents, Jess and Mary and sister, Irene Buster.

Lorene and her family moved to Hugo when she was a child. She was quite a character and never met a stranger. Lorene enjoyed sewing, crafting, crocheting and quilting. She loved flowers and spending time outside when she was able. Lorene loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. There are many stories to tell about her life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lorene is survived by her daughters: Sue Roebuck of Hugo, Okla., and Shirley Cummings of Tecumseh, Okla.; grandchildren: Angie Cooke and husband, Randy, Tommy Cummings, Jr. and wife, Rena, Patty Payne and husband, Steve, Annette Upton and husband, Mark, Amanda Milam and husband, Rocky and Michael Cummings; greatgrandchildren: Spencer Cooke and wife, Noah, Anthony Upton and wife, Meagan, Jeffery Payne and wife, Barbara, Taylor Buchannan and husband, Jake, Amber Upton, Elizabeth Whitlow, Lillabeth Whitlow, Tawny Cummings and Jessica Cummings; eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

Interment followed the service at Springs Family Cemetery in Hugo.
