Funeral services for Michael Lynn Burchfield, of Fort Towson, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. May 28, 2021 at Miller & Miller Funeral Home in Hugo. Michael passed away May 24, 2021, at the age of 60.

Michael Lynn Burchfield was born on Dec. 1, 1960 in Hugo, Okla. He was preceded in death by his son, Nickleous Cogburn; father, James Burchfield; mother and stepfather, Virginia and Robert Collins; brothers: Mark Edward Burchfield and Darrin Burchfield.

Mike was a graduate of Fort Towson High School, class of 1979. He began his career as a fireman in Fort Towson as a volunteer at the age of 18. He later worked as a firefighter for the Hugo Fire Department and retired on March 1, 2016 after 21 years of service. His love for being a fireman didn’t end on his retirement day, he returned to the Fort Towson Volunteer Fire Department as Fire Chief and he remained as the Chief until his passing on May 24, 2021. Mike enjoyed many things in life: roping, fishing, hunting, but his greatest enjoyment was helping people. He thought of others before himself and was always there when they needed him. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Mike is survived by his wife, Sandy Coffelt; daughters: Armelia Burchfield and significant other, James Johnson of Swink, Okla., Jessica Broadrick and husband, Steven of Fort Towson and Nichole Fields and husband, Junior of Cloudy, Okla.; sons: Alan Roden and wife, Jessica of Hugo, Jake Teague and wife, Krista of Cumby, Texas; grandchildren: Madison and Payton Burchfield, Jayln, Jesslyn and Stanten Broadrick, Kaci Davis, Kodi Harrison, Lance and Layton Teague and Landon Roden; brothers: James Burchfield of Fort Towson, Greg Burchfield and wife, Pam of Sawyer and Phillip Burchfield and wife, Tiffanie of Rattan, Okla., along with a host of family, friends and loved ones. Interment followed the service at Hall

Interment followed the service at Hall Cemetery in the Hall Community with Bro. Luther Roden officiating, under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home.
